Program
Booklet for 2010 Annual Meeting Now Available!
The program for
the 2010 annual meeting in Waikola, Hawaii
contains information around the general program,
poster, and oral paper sessions.
Additional information around other aspects of
the meeting are also included in the booklet.
Paper copies will be sent soon to members who
have registered for the meeting.

Making Room
Reservations for Annual Meeting.
To make room reservations at the
Waikoloa Beach Marriott, call Marriott Central
Reservations at 1-800-922-5533 (any time) or the
Waikoloa Marriott directly at 1-808-886-6789
(9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.(MST) M-F). Tell them you
are with the Western Society of Weed Science and
use one of the codes below for the room rate you
want. Or, go online at
www.waikoloabeachmarriott.com. On the right
of the page you will see “Check Rates &
Availability”. Enter the dates you want and
click on “Special Rates and Awards”. Where you
see “Group Code”, enter the room rate code you
want. Room rates are $ 209.00 per night (code
WS1WS1A) for Run of the House and $ 239.00 per
night (code WS1WS1C) for Ocean View. Click
“Check Availability” and you will get our group
rate. When you make the reservations, a resort
fee has been tacked on to the total. You will
have the option upon check-in to decline this.
The fee gives you several perks (internet
service, daily Mai Tai, snorkeling, etc.) so
make sure to ask for the details before you
decline. The group rate is good anytime between
check-in on March 5 through check out on March
13, 2010. |

Register
for Recreation/Tour Activities at the Annual
Meeting.
There are three key tours scheduled during the
week of the annual meeting in March 2010.
Tours include:
- The gorse
infestations on Mauna Kea (March 8; 7:30
am).
- Fountain
grass infestations of dryland ecosystems
(March 12; 7:30 am).
- Rangeland
weeds in the pastures of Waimea (March 13;
7:30 am).
To register for a
tour, please login to your account and go to the
registration section. You can also
register for tours after you register for the
annual meeting if you are undecided about a
specific tour activity. To do so, simply
go to the Annual Meeting section on your account
page. Space is limited and
available on a first come basis only.

WSWS
Outstanding Student Scholarship Program.
The Western Society of Weed Science is
pleased to announce a new scholarship program to
promote greater student participation at the
annual meeting and encourage new weed science
research and future weed science careers.
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be
awarded to three outstanding undergraduate
and/or graduate WSWS student members.

Need to
Pay Annual Membership Dues?
If you were unable
to attend the annual meeting, you can conveniently
pay your $25 annual dues fee online.
Simply login to your member account and go to
the 'Member Dues and Annual Meeting' section on
your personal account page. Click the 'Pay
Annual Dues ONLY' button to go to a secure
payment site and finalize payment with a major
credit card.
NOTE: Annual meeting attendees do not
need to make this payment as annual dues were
included in the meeting registration cost.
